If you’ve been following me for some time, you know that I am all about clean beauty products these days. Everything from hair care to makeup to skincare. Prior to my cancer diagnosis, I never checked ingredients in any of my beauty products. Like any. And to be honest, I always felt like clean beauty was subpar to the name brands many people know and love (as I once did). I often questioned if the quality was even good! I mean, would they even work without all the chemicals?! I know, it sounds terrible and completely short sided. It really was. Today, my tune has changed, and I have lovingly accepted many clean products into my beauty routine. I wear or use every one of these on a daily basis.
One app that has helped me access and find clean beauty products is the Yuka app (and no, this post was not sponsored by the app!). Oddly enough, my husband found the app and shared it with me last year. Now, every time I get the chance to tell my friends and loved ones about it, I do. With the free version of the app, you can scan the barcode of a product and it will tell you the Yuka rating along with ingredients. With the paid version, you can search their database of products by typing in the product name. This is helpful if you don’t have access to the barcode. You can download the app here.
Below are my must-have clean beauty products along with the Yuka rating for reference:
Ilia’s Skin Tint w/ SPF | Rated: 90/100 – Excellent
I put this product as number one because I truly love it so much. I’ve always been a big fan of medium to full foundation coverage, and most skin tints never really worked well for me. That all changed once I tried the Ilia Skin Tint with SPF. Not only does it give me the coverage I’m looking for, it also has 40 SPF and a whole range of shades. Some women prefer to apply it with their fingers, but I use a beauty sponge. Sometimes, I’ll also add a small amount of the Ilia True Skin foundation to it. The Ilia True Skin primer is great too. Ilia products can be found at Sephora or the brand website. You can shop the product here.
Caudalie’s Reveratrol Lift Serum | Rated: 93/100 – Excellent
I have to be honest and say that TikTok completely turned me onto this brand, and specifically the Resveratrol Lift Serum. Caudalie actually patented the resveratrol. It’s an oil-free anti-aging serum that visibly firms, lifts, and reduces the look of wrinkles with a patented alternative to retinol. I love the way this makes my skin feel and love that it’s a clean product. You can shop the product here.
Native Bodywash Coconut + Vanilla | Rated: 76/100 – Excellent
If you’re looking for a clean body wash a good price point, Native is it. Native is easy to find and even easier to use. My favorite scent is coconut and vanilla, but there are many to choose from. It’s made from super simple ingredients, too. You can shop the product here.
Osea Undaria Collagen Body Lotion | Rated: 100/100 – Excellent
The Osea Undaria Collagen body lotion is my latest favorite from Osea. In the past, I’ve used their Undaria Algae body oil and loved it. Osea has super clean ingredients and actually works. I’ve recently become an Osea ambassador and can now offer my followers 10% off by using code STYLEDLIFE10 or by shopping this link.
Beauty By Earth Self Tanning Water Bronzing Face Mist | Rated: 79/100 – Excellent
One of my favorite Amazon finds has been this self tanning face mist by Beauty By Earth. In the past, I would use products like Tax Luxe The Face. Those products definitely work, but I became more concerned about the ingredients as I learned more about endocrine disruptors and other toxins. These days, there are a number of cleaner self tanners and Beauty By Earth is one of them. You can shop this product here.
Ilia Limitless Mascara | Rated: 100/100 – Excellent
My lashes have thinned out a bit as I’ve gotten older and I’ve found that shorter brushes (like the one shown above) actually help to elongate my lashes. Also, I have hooded eyes so I need whatever I can get to make my eyes appear wider and more open! The Ilia Limitless Mascara is a great, clean mascara that not only elongates my lashes but also is made with clean ingredients. I rarely have raccoon eyes too. You can shop this product here.
Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant | Rated: 86/100 – Excellent
If you’re looking for a way to exfoliate your face without using a harsh scrub, Paula’s Choice 2% BHA liquid exfoliant may be the way to go. I’ve been using Paula’s Choice products for years, and have really come to love the variety (and potency) of their products. I use this product every other day now that my skin is a bit drier from Tamoxifen, but daily use is recommended. You can shop this product here.
Living Proof’s BHD shampoo and conditioner
BareMinerals Lip Gloss | Rated: 55/100 – Good
One of my favorite lip glosses is the BareMinerals Mineralist Lip Gloss. The color variety is great, and the product stays on a long time. Also, it doesn’t have a strange smell! Sometimes lip glosses have scents/tastes that I just can’t handle! This product is worth every dollar. You can shop this product here.
Schmidt’s Deodorant | Rated 93/100 – Excellent
For the past decade, I’ve religiously used Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant. Just for perspective, I first starting using this product when the roll-on container wasn’t even available! It was sold in a small glass jar with a small stick that you had to use to apply. The brand has really come a long way since its acquisition in 2017. My favorite scent is bergamot and lime, but there are a number of different scents to choose from. Bergamot is antimicrobial, so it’s one of my favorite ingredients in deodorant.
